CPE level-letter

E os meus dias têm sido assim.....

Dear Editor,

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am the English teacher who called your radio station last Saturday during the programme where ‘attitudes to work’ were being discussed. Having briefly spoken to you over the phone I decided to accept your challenge and address you this letter.
As I explained, I am teaching English in different companies to people who never had any contact with the language. Part of my work includes working late hours, or driving to far away cities, with one day in advance.This is acceptable, but I don’t believe that work must be above all matters.
Most people, and even workers whom I teach, believe that payment is the most encouraging factor. It is well known that large payments are only a consequence of many working hours.Yet, some people still find a relevant importance in maintaining their personal relationships, especially dedicating enough time to familly and friends.Nobody seems to believe that work should be above all these things.
Another important factor, is if whether the working hours are adjusted to the type of work required, or not. If it leaves us enough free time, or if shedulles are organised in a way that allows workers to acomplish their targets, without the need of stressing.
Having a good work environment is essencial. This will allow people to work at their own rythm, and not being disturbed by external factors, such as noise or people around them. If the employer has the option of giving workers a choice of what type of work they will be doing, they should try to do so, having a choice, is always positive.
In conclusion, I strongly defend that our attitude to work depends on all these points having been covered. A pleased worker will work better and we will all benefit from it.
